Ever since I participated in a group photo shoot at a rental studio in the Detroit area I’ve wanted to create one in mid-Michigan. Over the years I’ve had a few studio locations but they were always just for me. Last week I looked at a building that could work as a photography studio rental. The first all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade had arrived at the dealership. I got a few pictures but unfortunately I was not able to take it for a test drive.
The City Hall for Bay City MI was originally completed in 1897. Recently a $10 million renovation was completed and the beautiful piece of history is open and operating again. I was able to trade out some work for the ability to hold a photo shoot in the City Hall. We arranged for a few models and photographers to meet the Saturday before Easter for the photo shoot. The theme was roaring 20s and we got some great shots in this incredible building.
I get great relaxation from my (very expensive) photography hobby. This seems kind of weird as it is almost a second job with the amount of work it is to lug the equipment around, shoot all day, and then spend hours editing. Work the past few weeks had been very stressful so I was glad to get out of town for a photo shoot in Toledo, OH. The shoot was a blast, I met a bunch of new people, and got some great images.
Yesterday I had the privilege to photograph most of the members of the Bay City Michigan Commission as well as the Mayor and new City Manager.
Last month I had the pleasure of working with Jasmine Sue again and with another model from the Grand Rapids area, Onikaa. These two women are a blast to work with.
I enjoy doing the photos for Pit and Balcony. The performance of A Raisin In The Sun was very well done.
My friend Mark Olivarez and I were shooting at the models house. Her dog would not leave us alone. He just had to get in the picture. Funny thing was after a few pictures he was done and walked away.

After dodging idiots on I-75 I was able to get a Saginaw MI model to a test photo shoot with photographer David Birdsong in Pontiac, MI.
