A Burger at Nines Firehouse Pub
Debra and I went to Nines Fire House Pub on Bay Street in Saginaw last night for a light dinner. Being that Nine’s is a bar the inside was a little smokey but the weather was decent so we decided to sit outside. The only open table was next to the window and there was a stereo speaker above my head that was a little loud.
We decided that since the burgers were 1/2 pound we would split one. We ordered “The Back Draft” which is listed as a ½ pound steak burger served with a tequila-lime grill sauce, bacon, Pico de Gallo, sliced jalapenos, and cheddar cheese. The burger comes with chips and a side of potato salad or cole slaw. Since we told the waitress that we would be splitting the burger they also gave us each a side and we both got the cole slaw. We were hungry when we got there so decided that the popcorn chicken appitizer sounded like a good start. Debra got water to drink and I ordered a Bass Ale on draft.
The popcorn chicken was served with toothpics and three sauces; ranch, bbq and a sweet mustard. My favorite was the bbq sauce. It had good flavor and just enough spice to give it a little bite. I’m not a ranch fan so I didn’t even try that sauce. The sweet mustard was good but this night I was in the mood for the bbq.
A little while later the burger came. The food was served to us on two separate plates with chips and cole slaw on both. The slaw was good but nothing special or unusual. The burger was excelent. The meat was cooked just as we had ordered it and it was thick enough to be manageable with excelent flavor. The jalapenos added a good amount of kick. Although not overly spicey this burger is not recommended for someone who cannot handle the heat.
When the food was served Debra reminded me that I forgot to bring the camera – so we didn’t get a picture of the food for this first post.
Overall the food was good, it was nice to sit and eat outside and my wife and I both had a decent meal for only $15.40
