Sex, Please, We’re 60

Pit and Balcony SaginawSex Please We're 60

I have had the pleasure of taking photos at Pit and Balcony Theater in Saginaw for a few years now.  This months play, Sex, Please, We’re 60 is one of the most entertaining plays I have seen in a long time.  Perhaps it is my age (I’m still a ways away from 60 but I can relate) or just the comedy setup.  This is the last weekend of the show but I would recommend that anyone in Saginaw who is over 40 and can get to Pit and Balcony on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will have a good laugh and a great time!  Read the Mlive review at:  http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/saginaw/index.ssf/2011/03/seniors_get_frisky_in_pit_and.html

Good Charlotte – Detroit Concert Pics

The re-edit of my concert photography images continues.  The following pictures are of Good Charlotte live at Clutch Cargo’s in Pontiac, MI on 10/10/2006.  My daughter was a huge fan of Good Charlotte and was so excited when I got a press pass to the show.  This was the second time we saw Good Charlotte but the first time I photographed them.

POD Live Concert Pics

My first time at the famous Clutch Cargo’s in Pontiac Michigan (just north of Detroit) was to photograph P.O.D. live in concert.  The night club is an old church which makes the place very unique.  Clutch Cargo’s is big enough to house national touring acts but small enough that there isn’t a bad spot in the house for watching and hearing the bands.

Abandoned in Detroit 4 1/2 Years Later

The Abandoned In Detroit fashion project has been going on since 2005.  My first project experience was as a photographer in November 2006.  I was hooked!  This is a great project to be creative and meet some amazing people.  I can’t remember now how I first found out about the project but I’ve been involved with a half dozen over the past four and a half years.  I am looking forward to being able to participate again this year and it looks like the project is becoming bigger and more organized.  The project developer and organizer Steven is a really nice guy and has worked hard to make a great underground event for the independent Detroit fashion world.

One of the great events of the summer each year is the Labadie Pig Gig in Bay City, MI.  One of the headline acts for 2010 was Candlebox.

Group Fashion Photo Shoot Detroit

Once again I had the pleasure of participating in an Abandoned in Detroit photo shoot.  There hadn’t been a AID shoot in a while and even though I knew I was going to be late, I wanted to go.  Group shoots are a great way to meet new people and to push your creativity.  I had to drop my son off in S Lyon then cross over the state to the Detroit location for the shoot.  It took 1 hour longer to get over to downtown Detroit than it should have because of the excessive road closures due to construction.  I got to the shoot a little stressed and wondering if I should just leave.  I wasn’t in a good state of mind . . . but since I had driven this far I figured I might as well stay for an hour a shoot some pictures.  Well I ended up staying for 2 hours and had a great time (as usual).

Image Re-editing

After yesterday’s blog post I decided to go back into some older photoshoots and re-edit some more pictures.  In today’s world of digital photography the photographer has to be the editor also.  In the past I just shot the film and let a developer and touch-up artist fix things (to my specifications of course).  Today the modern photographer needs to do it all.  Having spent 7 years in the magazine industry taught me a lot about digital editing and touch-up.  And with new software coming out all the time it’s amazing what can be done now.

Even though my studio is in Saginaw, MI the following two images were from a group photoshoot in Detroit.  The photoshoot was a portfolio building shoot for both the models and photographers.  These group shoots are a great way to get the creative juices flowing.
