It was nice over the past weekend not to have to drive to Detroit for a photo shoot. Through ModelMayhem I had been talking with a model from Saginaw and we finally got together for a photo shoot. Shoot turn out great and Lakeshia was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her for all you Great Lakes Bay Region publishers and online product website photographers. In fact you can call both of us to work as a team! Photographer and model all in one!
World class entertainment came to Saginaw this past weekend with the 1st Annual Summer Breeze Festival. A large crowd gathered at Lions Park in Buena Vista to hear Marvin Dixon, K’Jon and Charlie WIlson.
Aside from a few minutes of rain the weather was perfect and the entertainment was hot. Charlie put on a phenomenal show complete with dancers and an amazing light show. Although there was a great turn out it would have been nice to see the entire hill filled with people. I’m sure you’ll hear people who attended talking out if years from now. “Remember when we saw Uncle Charlie in the park at BV? Wasn’t that a great show!”

Stephen Coppler and crew put on another great MMA event and this time it was at Hooters Restaurant in Saginaw! The crowd was huge and the fights just seem to get better each event. For more pictures from the night visit David Defoe’s (Saginaw photographer) website – click here.
When this burger was dropped on the table didn’t look like the one in the menu. However, I don’t eat a burger with my eyes and my taste buds loved it! You can’t really see it here but the burger is on a pretzel bun which ads to the uniqueness of this burger. Bennigan’s chipotle burger has pepper jack chees and chipotle peppers (duh) but I didn’t think it was very hot.

I came in contact with a model now living in Saginaw, EyRoyal, a few weeks ago. She is a very creative person and we both decided that a portfolio session would be a lot of fun. It took a few attempts to get the props and work schedules setup but we finally scheduled the shoot. The photo session went great and the results speak for themselves.

There was a little miss communication with a model the other night. I found myself in downtown City of Saginaw on a beautiful Friday night with camera in hand. Rather than waste the fantastic evening I went scouting for shooting locations and looking for interesting pics. I ended up with a few images of the City of Saginaw that I hope everyone will enjoy.
Just as I got out of my car on this Friday night a train was heading over the Saginaw river. A tree in the park made for a great opportunity to using framing technique.
The picture above left is a reflection of the Saginaw Bean Co building on the river. The image on the right was taken in a loading dock.
Here is another picture of the Saginaw Bean Co building. It was hard to get a good exposure with the sun. This shot was taken through a piece of polarized car glass.
I love the AT&T building in the City of Saginaw. There are so many great angles this building can be taken from.

Sevendust puts on an amazing high energy show. They continue their impressive onslaught with all eight of their albums appearing on the Billboard 200 chart and 20 singles in the top 50. This is a seasoned band that you will not want to miss if they come to a city near you.

It is always really hard to get a good picture when a concert stage is washed in red. This is a very popular color for rock concerts. This night the state was mostly washed in blue and the rest of the time it was washed in red. However, I did end up with some great shots of “In This Moment”.

In all my years of concert photography this was my first opportunity to photograph Korn. I’ve always loved their music and any band that is immortalized by South Park has got to be great! Korn puts on a fantastic high energy show.

I have had the pleasure of taking photos at Pit and Balcony Theater in Saginaw for a few years now. This months play, Sex, Please, We’re 60 is one of the most entertaining plays I have seen in a long time. Perhaps it is my age (I’m still a ways away from 60 but I can relate) or just the comedy setup. This is the last weekend of the show but I would recommend that anyone in Saginaw who is over 40 and can get to Pit and Balcony on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will have a good laugh and a great time!
